In this one-hour webinar from the National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning (NCTCFP), Drs. Chelsea Polis and Rachel Urrutia provide an overview of nomenclature and types of fertility awareness based methods (FABM), name biomarkers used in the practice of FABM, discuss counseling skills to use with individuals interested in FABMs, and answer questions. This webinar was presented to a live audience on April 9, 2018.

Dr. Polis and her co-authors recently completed a systematic review on the effectiveness of various FABMs. She also recently completed an analysis assessing how use of multiple contraceptive methods impacts the estimation of FABM prevalence in the U.S. Dr. Urrutia is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as in preventive medicine. She is an assistant professor at UNC–Chapel Hill and does clinical work at Reply Ob/Gyn & Fertility. Like Dr. Polis, Dr. Urrutia has conducted research on the use and effectiveness of FABMs for avoiding pregnancy.
