This report updates the 2010 CDC Treatment Guidelines for people who have or are at risk for STDs. Updates include alternative treatment options for gonorrhea and genital warts; updated HPV vaccine recommendations and counseling messages; recommendations related to care for transgender clients; and annual testing for hepatitis C in persons with HIV infection, among others. These recommendations should be regarded as a source of clinical guidance rather than prescriptive standards; health-care providers should always consider the clinical circumstances of each person in the context of local disease prevalence.
