This American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology article describes the clinical components of preconception care. In 2005, Select Panel on Preconception Care implementation workgroups addressed clinical, public health, consumer, policy and finance, and research and surveillance issues to develop strategies for implementation of CDC recommendations on preconception health and health care. This article also outlines the methodology and results of this work.
