We value the continuity of care that health centers offer in providing family planning clients the opportunity to get their needs met in one location.
Jody Camp, Family Planning Unit Section Manager
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Title X grantee in Colorado, has worked over the last several years to bring health center programs into the Title X network. To generate interest among health centers, CDPHE presented the benefits of working with the Title X Program—including more funding and programmatic support to prioritize family planning within existing services—and how extra funding would help health centers meet the needs of their most vulnerable clients. To support this integration of Title X services, CDPHE reviewed and shared resources such as the Primary Care Partnership Video and tips on developing a sliding fee discount schedule with health center programs.
The time and programmatic support provided to health centers has paid off; currently, seven of the 29 subrecipients in CDPHE’s network are health centers. These seven centers provide services to approximately 25% of CDPHE’s family planning clients.
