Experiences from the Field: How Title X Providers are Offering Substance Use Services

OPA encourages screening routinely for substance use within a family planning visit. This webinar will highlight one Title X grantee and two subrecipient agencies’ efforts to address substance use in their communities. These experiences were initially shared during a five-month peer learning group hosted by the FPNTC on providing substance use services within family planning settings, including screening for substance use disorders. Other lessons learned from the peer learning group will also be shared, along with existing and upcoming resources for the Title X network.

Speakers: Caitlin Hungate, FPNTC; Danni Lambert and Sasha Foust, Tennessee Department of Health; Gina Polese-Grosso, Family Planning Center of Ocean County (NJ); and Elyse Waugh and Tiffany Wolfe, Portsmouth City Health Department (OH)

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of screening for substance use in a family planning visit.
  2. Identify two strategies to address the substance use needs of clients.
  3. Identify one strategy described by a peer that could be used at your agency or site to implement and/or enhance screening for substance use.
